TAGAR.id, Jakarta - The Committee for Parliamentary Cooperation (BKSP) DPD RI invites the country of Thailand to build a stronger collaboration in manifold fields such as one of them in building a sister city. This is conveyed by the Chair of BKSP DPD RI, Mr. Darmansyah Husein, in Work Convention on Thursday, July 4.

In addition to a sister city, of course we will also develop our collaboration in education, tourism and culture sectors. The collaboration is expected to be able to form a strong foundation for strengthening the relationship between the parliaments of the two countries,” explains Darmansyah in DPD RI’s building in Jakarta.

.Darmansyah elaborates that as an initial step BKSP has prepared a brief draft of Letter of Intent (LOI) which will be conveyed to the new Thailand’s Senate when it is officially formed.

We believe that the collaboration between parliaments of Indonesia and Thailand will not only brings direct mutual benefits to the two countries, but also will it provide positive contribution to strengthening the stability and prosperity of ASEAN region as a whole,” continues the Bangka Belitung native Senator.

.In the mean time, Almanik Pababari co-suggests collaboration in agricultural field, particularly to the intend to study horticultural gardening which has run very well in Thailand.

We ought to use the agricultural advancement and export increase of agricultural product of Thailand as models. Collaboration in the field of agricultural research, especially to develop horticultural gardening, needs to be done. As agricultural country, Indonesian’s agricultural potential is also very big, therefore the seriousness of the government to greatly exploit the potential is truly required,” utters Almalik who himself is member of DPD RI of West Sulawesi.

Thailand’s Ambassador for Indonesia, Mr. Prapan Disyatat, welcomes well the collaboration plan and the LOI of BKSP DPD RI. According to him, Thailand and Indonesian parliaments have close relationship history so that this collaboration can easily be communicated.

“Indonesia is the third most important partner for Thailand. In the coming 2025, it will be the commemoration of 75th anniversary of Indonesia and Thailand Friendship. Therefore, it is the right momentum to enter into the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). As for the research collaboration in developing horticultural gardening, we are very open should Indonesia intend to learn from several of our running research centers,” affirms Prapan.

The work convention is also attended by Gusti Farid Hasan Aman who is also a Deputy Chairman of BKSP DPD RI; Ahmad Kanedi, member of DPD RI of Bengkulu; Eni Sumarni, member of DPD RI of West Java; Elviana, member of DPD RI of Jambi; and Empi Muslion, the Head Bureau of Trial I of General Secretariate of DPD RI.
